A Pine Bluff man accused of abducting his nephew was arrested after an armed standoff Thursday night, police reported.

Mark Franklin, 33, faces counts of kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Franklin's sister told police that he pulled a gun on her and her 15-year-old son and "started going crazy" at her house about 4:45 p.m., according to a police report. Franklin, who was sweating "way more than normal," reportedly accused his sister of trying to "set him up" and threatened to kill her. He took his nephew at gunpoint and drove away in a silver-colored 2004 Ford Mustang, according to the report.

Police said they found Franklin parked at 5818 Sulphur Springs Road after he called a family member and threatened to kill the boy if he saw police. Officers in plain clothes and unmarked vehicles watched from a distance while another family member spoke with Franklin.

Franklin released the boy about 10:40 p.m. and tactical officers arrested him, according to the department.

    There were no injuries.

Franklin also faces a charge of possession of a firearm by certain persons. Police said he's a felon.

Franklin was being held in the Jefferson County jail Friday.
