Alcohol Beverage Control Enforcement writes 289 tickets in weekend operation
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) —
Arkansas' Alcohol Beverage Control Enforcement Division recently wrote 289 tickets for violations, including 142 violations for selling alcohol to minors.
Eighteen ABC enforcement agents conducted "Operation Check-In" over the past weekend, making sure more than 740 liquor stores, private clubs, bars, and convenience stores that hold an alcohol permit were complying with the law.
“Our agents covered a lot of ground over a short period, providing a strong reminder that non-compliance is not tolerated,” said Boyce Hamlet, Director of ABC’s Enforcement Division. “When someone sells to a minor or overserves, it becomes a public safety issue and it is our responsibility to ensure this behavior is detected and discontinued.”
Local law enforcement helped to investigate violations at the locations.
ABC did not specify which locations were given tickets.
There are more than 5,000 active alcohol permits in the Natural State.
