Hot Springs authorities say an allegedly intoxicated driver drove into the flagpole and lights right in front of the police department Friday afternoon.

"We can’t make this stuff up," the department said in a tweet.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody for DWI, careless prohibited driving, no proof of insurance and no seat belt.

Authorities tell KATV the cost of damages includes approximately $1,500 for the lighting. If they replace the pole, it could be up to $4,000.
