UPDATE (1/25/18) -- Warren authorities say the 4-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself is now in stable condition, according to a police sergeant who talked with the victim's father.

Authorities told KATV they do not anticipate any charges to be filed in the case as it was "clearly accidental."

Police say the victim was in the car with his mother and grandmother and they pulled into a family member's driveway that had an incline, which caused a purse to fall from the center console. Another bag containing the gun fell out of the purse and was within the boy's reach.

Police say the mother had exited the vehicle to get a grocery list and the grandmother was the passenger. That's when police say the child grabbed the gun and accidentally shot himself.
