An east Arkansas woman won a $2 million lottery prize and became a grandmother on the same day, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery reported Wednesday.

According to a news release, Linder Mathis of Dumas was at a hospital with her newborn granddaughter when her husband called her crying. He said they'd won the lottery.

Mathis' husband had purchased a Mega Millions ticket for her ahead of a drawing Jan. 29. He returned to the gas station a few days later and the owner told him they'd won.

“My husband didn’t believe the owner when he told him that we were winners, because we don’t play the lottery often," Mathis said in the release. "We checked our numbers and discovered that [the owner] was actually telling the truth."

Mathis said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills, help her family and go on a vacation, according to the release.

She now has four grandchildren.
