JEFFERSON COUNTY (KATV) — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation after a body was found early Wednesday morning.
Deputies say the body of an unidentified female was discovered around 10:00 a.m. along Gibb Anderson Road, just south of Grider Field Ladd Road in Jefferson County.
“When investigators arrived, they did not find a source of identification. Therefore, there is very little information to go on at this time,” said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Operations Commander, Major Lafayette Woods, Jr. “Without an autopsy and forensics report from the State Medical Examiner’s Office, our investigators are left to comb through potential missing person’s cases to aid them in determining the identity of the body found."
Investigators are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the persons death.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley said an autopsy will be performed by the Arkansas State Medical Examiners's Office on July 12.
If anyone has any information about the identity of the person in this investigation or circumstances surrounding their death they are asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at (870)541-5496.
Woods says a reward may be offered for information leading to the arrest and or conviction of a suspect in this case.
