Authorities investigating shootings that killed 2 people & injured another in Monticello

    Monticello Police are being assisted by Arkansas State Police, investigating two early Sunday morning shootings that left two dead and two injured.

    Monticello Police are investigating two separate shootings that killed two people and injured another, early Sunday morning. According to Monticello Police Chief Eddy Deaton, investigators believe the two shootings are related.

    Deaton said local officers were dispatched about 6:20 AM to 120 South Chester street, where they found Jeremiah Jones, 37, dead inside a car not far from the Chester Street address. Inside the house, Shalonda Binns, 37, was found dead.

    According to Deaton, Police also located Lavar Thompson of Dermott at the Chester Street address with a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital in Little Rock - his condition unknown at this time.

    Arkansas State Police are assisting Monticello authorities with their investigation.
