Faulkner County's K9 Timon will now sport a bullet and stab protective vest when patrolling Arkansas streets.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a Massachusetts-based nonprofit, donated the vest, which is valued up to $2,283. Its embroidered with the sentiment, "In memory of K9 Ty, California City Police Department."

The sheriff's office said 2-year-old Timon graduated from Little Rock K9 Academy in November 2017 and is skilled in tracking, drug detection and violent crime apprehension.

Authorities believe Timon will be better able to protect deputies and Faulkner County residents with the addition of the vest.

Vested Interests in K9s has donated more than 3,000 protective vests to police dogs since it was founded in 2009.
