A man who escaped from the Hot Spring County jail earlier this week was captured Thursday in Malvern, according to the Arkansas Department of Community Correction.

Parole officers found and arrested Aaron Singleton, 27, shortly before 6 p.m. at an apartment on Sulphur Springs Road in Malvern.

Authorities had been searching for him since about 11 a.m. Sunday, when Singleton, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 235 pounds, overpowered a Hot Spring County jail officer and fled.

Department of Community Correction spokesman Dina Tyler said Thursday that Singleton will be sent back to the Hot Spring County jail. He was being held on charges of first-degree battery and false imprisonment before he escaped.

Tyler said additional charges against Singleton are likely.
