(Little Rock, KATV) — A local day center for the homeless unveiled a new housing unit Sunday as they celebrated 10 years of service.
Since 2013 Jericho Way has worked to provide shelter and resources for those less fortunate in Central Arkansas.
This weekend they reached a new milestone.
“It’s a Happy Birthday did Jericho Way and I think it’s a happy day for the city of Little Rock and DePaul USA looks forward to do more in the city," DePaul USA Executive Director Charles Levesque said.
DePaul USA and Jericho Way joined forces in 2015. The organization hosted an open house this weekend for their 12th affordable housing unit as a part of their 13-home plan. But the help doesn't stop there...
"Jericho Way is a day resource center for the homeless and unsheltered in Central Arkansas,” DePaul USA Jericho Way Director Carol Miles said.
At Jericho Way, the unhoused are able to receive meals, showers, clothes, case management resources, and more.
“Day centers are an essential part of addressing homelessness because they are a beginning they’re a way that people living on the street can build relationships and trust so they take the steps from moving from the streets into housing," Levesque said.
With most of their help coming from Little Rock citizens, DePaul USA Jericho Way says it is their passion to continue giving back through their work with those in need.
"It’s very exciting to be able to help our community members to become houses because that is Jericho Way's mission. That homelessness has no place. And so that we do want to see those in our community move forward toward stability and we are here do assist in that goal," Miles said.
The organization said they are always open to donations and volunteers.
