Four Little Rock parks will build new playgrounds during the early part of next year thanks to the city being awarded a $250,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.

The award is part of Arkansas' Outdoor Recreation Grant program and will be used for new playgrounds at Reservoir, Ottenheimer, Kanis and Hanger Hill parks, including the addition of Americans with Disabilities Act compliant items.

Little Rock held four hearings for the parks in May and June and these projects received support from the public, the city says.

Little Rock is required to provide a match of $250,000 for the total project budget of $500,000.
