Formal charges have been filed against twin brothers for their connection to the shooting that killed 18-year-old Tyreke Summage, reports KATV content partner Log Cabin Democrat.

Rodrick Thornton and Robert Thornton were both arrested in January on suspicion of manslaughter.

Both men have been charged with aggravated assault and possession of firearms by certain persons.

An investigation into the shooting began after Summage was reportedly dropped off with a gunshot wound at Conway Regional Medical Center on Dec. 27, where he was later pronounced dead.

Early the same day, officers responded to a shots-fired call at the Plaza Pointe apartment complex at 2400 Market Plaza Drive in Conway.

Phillip Sweet, Mike Fuentes and Colton Thomas searched the area did not find any shell casings or blood during the early morning hours due to heavy rains. Police say that Sweets found a 40 Caliber Glock 23 Gen 3 in the breezeway of Building 4 of the complex.

According to the officer's report, there were no bullets in the magazine, chamber, or near the gun.

Detectives believe that the brothers along with the Summage fired shots at three men who were inside a Plaza Pointe apartment on Dec. 27.

At least one man inside the apartment fired back, hitting Summage. The 18-year-old later died at the hospital, police say.

The twin brothers are scheduled to appear for a plea and arraignment hearing regarding the allegations at 9 a.m. Feb. 25 in Faulkner County Circuit Court.
