LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A coronavirus outbreak in the Arkansas Legislature has grown by two, pushing the number of lawmakers who have who tested positive for the virus the past week and a half to nine, reported KATV content partner 4029News.
Reps. Jeff Wardlaw and Gayla McKenzie are the latest to test positive for the virus, said a House spokeswoman on Tuesday.
Budget hearings were halted last week because of the virus outbreak.
McKenzie's uncle, Gov. Asa Hutchinson, has limited his public appearances after being exposed to someone with the virus. He has tested negative several times since then.
McKenzie lives in Gravette and represents District 92, which is comprised of part of Benton County. She is running for re-election in an uncontested race.
Wardlaw represents District 8, which includes all of Bradley County, a portion of Ashley, Drew, Cleveland, Dallas and Calhoun counties. He is running against Christopher Ogburn this year.
