Missing hunter's body has been recovered in the AR river
The body of a 22-year-old hunter has been recovered from the Arkansas River, according to Johnson County Office of Emergency Management.
Josh Johnson with Johnson County OEM says the man's body was found in the river near Knoxville, Ark. Sunday night.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Department is looking for a missing hunter.
The department received a call from a resident in Knoxville stating their was an overturned boat near Cabin Creek Park.
Once first responders arrived, crews said they found a hunter’s boat and his dog. They have not located the hunter.
A search for the missing hunter began around 2:10 p.m. and was called off once it became dark.
The search continued Sunday morning.
According to Emergency management crews volunteers are on foot searching the area. Search and rescue dogs are also being used in the search along with Arkansas Game and Fish crews who are using boats to search the waterways.
Arkansas Game and Fish are leading the investigation as the search continues.
Crews have not released the name of the hunter at this time.
