On June 7, a Crittenden County Correctional Officer and a Memphis man were arrested after it was discovered that they planned to bring drugs into the Crittenden County Jail.

According to Crittenden County Sheriff Mike Allen, the two were arrested after a week-long investigation.

Investigators set up surveillance after hearing about a plan to bring drugs into the facility.

30-year-old Julian Taylor of Memphis was caught bringing drugs into Sheriff’s Department public restroom and placing them in a trash can inside the bathroom. He was arrested after he left the facility.

Moments later, a correction officer, later identified as 23-year-old Torell Tyson of West Memphis, went into the restroom and got the drugs. He was then taken into custody. Sheriff Allen stated that he had only been employed at the jail for about five months.

Both men were charged with furnishing prohibited articles and possession of a controlled substance.
