CALHOUN COUNTY, Ark. (KATV) — The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) said a local coordinator reported an explosion at Esterline Defense Technologies in East Camden on Tuesday.
ADEM says the source of the explosion is unknown, but campus security reports the situation is under control.
One person was airlifted to an area hospital. The Ouachita County sheriff tells KATV the victim had to be airlifted due to burns. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and Ouachita County ambulance responded to the scene.
The company says it is conducting an investigation into the cause of the explosion, which occurred in one of the buildings. The facility produces aerial expendable countermeasure flares.
