Fatality accident on I-40 involving ambulance shuts down interstate
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) —
An early morning accident on I-40 Eastbound just west of the Maumelle exit has interstate 40 at the 141-mile marker closed.
The accident happened just after 5 a.m. when 21-year-old Briana Carter was driving a Chevy Impala headed west in the eastbound lanes and traveled up the exit ramp.
The vehicle hit the front of a MEMS ambulance.
Briana was pronounced dead at 5:55 a.m. by Officer Delvin Hale of the Pulaski County Coroner's Office.
Paul Sanchez, 22, and Darius Williams, 23, were injured in the crash and taken to Baptist to treat their injuries.
The two MEMS medics were extricated from the vehicle, said Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services on Facebook.
State Police said the weather was clear and roads were dry at the time of the crash.
