Faulkner County sheriff fires deputy who shot dog

Faulkner County Sheriff Tim Ryals has fired Deputy Keenan Wallace following an investigation into the shooting of a dog in the Shiloh Estates subdivision in Conway on Friday night.

The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office received a call about an aggressive dog in the Shiloh Estates subdivision in Conway on Friday night and sent a deputy to the scene.

During the incident, the deputy, Keenan Wallace, a K-9 handler, fired his weapon at the dog.

Sheriff Ryals says it does not appear that the deputy violated any state law or agency policy, but he will refer the investigation to the prosecuting attorney's office for further review.

The sheriff posted the following message on Facebook explaining his decision:

Reese's is stable but will need surgery for a a shattered jaw.
