Fire ruled accidental at Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center in Little Rock

UPDATE: After speaking with some of the workers, the fire marshal's office tells KATV the blaze was ruled as accidental.

The fire occurred due to maintenance being performed on the roof, authorities said.

Firefighters arrived to the blaze at 6:42 p.m. Sunday to see the roof engulfed in flames.

Approximately 30 firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the fire, which left the structure a total loss.


ORIGINAL: The Little Rock Fire Department is on the scene of a fire at an office building that houses the Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center.

The entire building is a loss, according to officials with the LRFD. Three other businesses nearby suffered damage. At this time, they said they are still talking to witnesses to determine a cause.

The LRFD was called to the scene at 6:52 p.m. Sunday. No injuries have been reported, the fire chief said.

The Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center is a faith-based organization that does not perform abortions, according to the fire chief. It is located off Hermitage Road, between Financial Center Parkway and I-430 in West Little Rock.
