Fourth suspect pleads guilty to murder of Conway couple in 2015
Conway (KATV) —
July, 2018 marks three years since a couple was killed in their Conway home, and Tuesday the last of the four people charged entered a guilty plea in the case.
Twenty-year-old Hunter Drexler of Clinton, pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree murder, aggravated robbery, and abuse of a corpse.. Drexler was 17-years-old when 66-year-old Robert and Patricia Cogdell were shot multiple times in their home.
He is one of four people charged in the deaths, and the last to enter a guilty plea. The other three, Justin Staton, Conner Atchley, and Anatasia Roberts are currently incarcerated.
Staton is the grandson of the couple that was killed. He was 14-years-old back in 2015 when he was charged with the murder. The Log Cabin Democrat reports that Staton and Drexler were incarcerated together in the Faulkner County Juvenile Detention Center when they came up with the plan rob the Cogdells to get enough money to run away. The plan ultimately ended with the murder of the couple.
Drexler will serve 25 years in prison. He is required to serve 70 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
