Garland County boy reunites with family after missing for several hours
Garland County, Ark. —
It was a terrifying few hours for a Garland County family this afternoon. A 5-year-old boy went missing from his front yard.
5-year-old Elijah Moore, his family says, is an adventurous little boy. He was playing out in the front yard, but the next minute, he was gone. His mother panicked. "She said, 'I'm scared. That has been way too long.' so, it was getting close to over an hour," said his grandmother Jennifer Sutherland.
So, they called the police. Garland County Sheriff's Deputy Kyle Hecke said, "Patrol deputies responded, search and rescue with the K9 was deployed as well as other agencies responded. Arkansas state police, 70 west fire department, piney fire department," among other first responding agencies.
Their fear instantly gravitated toward the heavily wooded area behind the house. "Especially living out in the country, with the snakes being as bad as they are right now. It's a scary thought. I mean, so many different things could've happened," said Sutherland.
Thankfully, a few hours later, Elijah was found safe with a family friend in a neighboring town. A sigh of relief for what could've been a devastating day. Sutherland said, "I felt like angels we just around this little guy. And we got a second chance." Elijah's family didn't hesitate to thank all of the first responding agencies that helped calm them down and locate Elijah. Saying, they couldn't have done it without them.
