According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, each morning some 2,500 Arkansans wake up on the streets. No doubt you’ve seen the homeless in Little Rock. Perhaps you’ve even given them money of food. It’s common in Little Rock, North Little Rock, and surrounding areas to see panhandlers on street corners throughout the day. It begs the questions: Who are these people? How did they get in this situation? Am I really helping by giving them a few bucks?

Six months ago, Channel 7’s Alyson Courtney set out to meet some of Arkansas’ homeless, in an attempt to get to know them, and learn their stories. On Wednesday, she’ll introduce you to three of the homeless Arkansans she met. Find out what led them to life on the streets, why it’s so hard for them to find work, and what they plan to do to improve their situations.

Then on Thursday, we revisit these three, six months later, to find that their journeys took an unexpected turn.

Watch this special report, Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 p.m. on Channel 7 News.
