LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Gov. Hutchinson met with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House on Friday.
He, along with other governors and mayors, discussed the new administration's COVID-19 response.
The oval office discussion centered around the American Rescue Plan which the White House calls an emergency legislative package to fund vaccinations, provide immediate direct relief to families, and support struggling communities.
"I assured him that the State of Arkansas is really working hard not only on the efficient distribution of the vaccines but also fairness for how that is distributed and we can do it. We are committed to itwe just need the supply. He understands that and so that was a major topic that I raised."
The American Rescue Plan includes checks for $1,400 checks per person, $160 billion to expand COVID-19 testing, vaccinations, and other health care needs, $170 billion for schools, and another roughly $440 billion for struggling communities.
