Little Rock police identify Charles Bussey Avenue homicide victim
The Little Rock Police Department has identified the victim killed in a shooting on Charles Bussey Avenue.
Police responded to a shooting-in-progress call at 2117 W. Charles Bussey Avenue, where they found 37-year-old Leon Mitchell Jr. with gunshot wounds lying on the porch.
Another victim, 22-year-old Rodney Holloway, was taken to UAMS by a person at the residence. Police say he is listed as being in serious condition.
Callers told police the suspects drove by, shooting into the house. The department received several calls about gunfire in the area.
Officers administered first aid to Mitchell Jr. until emergency personnel arrived.
MEMS later pronounced him dead and his body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
While investigating, homicide detectives and other personnel found several gun shell casings on the street, bullet strikes in the home, and located the vehicle used to transport Holloway to UAMS.
The vehicle was towed to the Little Rock Police Crime Scene Bay for processing.
Authorities describe the suspected vehicle used in the shooting as a red SUV.
Police say that the shooting is an on-going investigation.
