Victim identified, suspect arrested in Little Rock's 40th homicide

Little Rock police officers responded to an assault just occurred at 6:30 Saturday evening in the 500 block of West 24th Street.

When officers arrived they found a black male lying on the grass near the alley between Arch and Gaines Streets and just north of 24th Street.

The victim was lying beside a brick wall and was bleeding from his head. Police say the victim was obviously dead from trauma to the head.

Little Rock detectives conducted a neighborhood canvass and during the canvass they were able to develop a suspect in the homicide.

The coroner transported the victim to the medical examiner's officer for an autopsy.

The exact of death will be determined by the medical examiner.

Homicide detectives arrested Dupree Boatner of Little Rock. He is being charged with first degree murder.

The victim has been identified as Allen Sims of Little Rock.

Little Rock police are investigating the city's 40th homicide.

It happened in the 500 block of West 24th Street just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Officers say children were playing in an alleyway and discovered the body. Their parents called 911 shortly after.

When officers arrived they found an adult black male deceased.

Little Rock police tell us, they don't know how the long the body has been there or the exact cause of death.
