A man is behind bars after a shooting outside the La Michoacana ice cream shop that left one dead and three more injured, including the suspect.

Authorities say Ahmad Salaam,39, was taken into custody Thursday after being released from the hospital where he was being treated for a gunshot wound.

When police initially arrived at the ice cream shop, Salaam was performing CPR on an unresponsive victim, identified as Justin Foster, 31, and told officers he had been acting in self defense.

Foster was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

Officers on the scene also located two additional gunshot victims, identified as 59-year-old Maria Briceno-Gonzalez and 27-year-old Juan-Carlos Jiminez, who they said were innocent bystanders.

Salaam was served with a warrant for second-degree murder and is being held in the Pulaski County Regional jail.

According to the Little Rock Police Department, Salaam did not provide a statement to police after the incident and got a lawyer. Statements from people at the scene of the crime and surveillance video gave them probable cause to make an arrest.
