Man injured in Benton County officer-involved shooting
Arkansas State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Benton County.
A man was wounded just before 4:00 pm Saturday after he reportedly pointed a gun at local officers responding to a disturbance call in Gravette, according to law enforcement.
Benton County Sheriff’s Deputies, Gravette Police Officers, and Sulphur Springs Police Officers responded to the disturbance call. As officers arrived, they encountered 40-year-old Eulas Linwood Hughes, III, outside the home. Hughes was armed with a handgun and long-gun, according to officers. As negotiations between law enforcement and Hughes occurred in an attempt to have him drop the guns, Hughes began to attempt entry into the home.
At that time, he is said to have pointed one of the guns at officers, who then fired, wounding Hughes.
Hughes was transported to an area hospital. He is in stable condition.
The officers involved have not been identified.
