Maumelle man shot when entering girlfriend's apartment following dispute

MAUMELLE, Ark. (KATV) — Maumelle police say a man was shot when attempting to enter his girlfriend's apartment over the weekend following a dispute about a car.

Authorities were called to Valencia Drive for a shooting minutes before noon Sunday. Once there, authorities found 29-year-old William Allen suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen outside of an apartment.

Officers discovered a 28-year-old woman, who identified herself as Allen's girlfriend, shot him as he was entering her apartment.

According to authorities, before the shooting, the woman had called police saying Allen left in her vehicle and refused to return it unless she paid him.

The woman was taken to the police department, questioned and released without charges at the time.

However, authorities say they will continue to investigate and consult with the prosecuting attorney's office to determine if any charges should be filed in the shooting.
