Maumelle Police Department arrests suspect for teen's homicide

    Maumelle police have arrested Jakobi Cortez Alston, 19, faces charges of first-degree murder for his connection to a teen's death on Saturday.

    Anthony Thomas Jr., 19, was found dead Saturday in an apartment at the Gables at Maumelle at 1500 Union Court. Police first deemed it a suspicious death, but later ruled the death homicide.

    Police arrested Alston at his home, he was taken into custody without incident and then transported to headquarters for questioning.

    Authorities say they strongly suspect an additional person was inside the apartment at the time of the homicide. Officers are currently searching for this person as well as an additional individual who gave the suspect a ride from the scene of the homicide back to his house.

    Detectives say these people are not suspects, however, they are person(s) of interest as police continue to seek more information in the case.
