Mayflower landowner upset after finding 'nudist colony' ad on property

When Orin Whited first came home from a weekend trip someone posted a sign advertising a nudist colony was coming to town.

A Mayflower landowner tells KATV he's had to field at least a hundred calls after someone defaced his property for sale sign.

The sign has since been taken down from this property off of Highway 365, out in the county, but when Orin Whited first came home from a weekend trip someone posted a sign advertising a nudist colony was coming to town.

Whited says, not only have people in the community been worried, but churches in the area were upset. He adds that while some may find it funny, it has not been fun answering calls from all over the country either looking to purchase season passes or questioning the sign.

"I just hate that it upset people, I just don't want them to ever think that…I ain’t no choir boy, but we don't do stuff like that," said Whited.

“I am a tree trimmer for 44 years, professionally, and I am not opening up no nudist colony," he added.

KATV spoke with several people either working or living in the area, many questioned why someone would do this.

“It's terrible, why would someone do that to a man like that? He's a pillar of the community, I mean he does a lot of things for the school, for the Mayflower School, I mean...everybody. He'll give you the shirt off of his back, it's terrible,” said resident Barbara Teas.

Whited tells Channel 7 he's contacted the police, and Mayflower Police confirmed this. He adds that he hopes whoever thought this was a funny prank, fesses up and apologizes to the community.
