A man is behind bars after he drove from Mississippi to Conway to allegedly have sex with who he thought was a 13-year-old girl and move in with her family.

According to a probable cause affidavit, investigators with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office Cybercrimes Division first came into contact with 43-year-old Kristopher Thomas back in July in a chatroom on Kik Messenger.

Since July, an investigator messaged Thomas, posing as a man with two daughters, ages 9 and 13. In that exchange, Thomas expressed interest in having sexual intercourse with the 13-year-old. Thomas also began messaging another undercover profile of who he thought to be a 13-year-old girl.

Earlier this week, Thomas drove from Mississippi to the Starbucks on Oak Street in Conway to meet up with who he thought was the teen for sexual intercourse and to later move in with her family as a “sex toy.”

“They observed a suspicious online ad and they made contact with this subject. They are trained on what to look for and they are having conversations with these people and they are in an undercover role and pretending to be someone else. It’s a very dark world - a very portion of the world not many people see,” said Deputy Adam Bledsoe with the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office.

Thomas’ arrest marks the department's 25th sex sting in 2017.

Thomas is currently being held at the Faulkner County jail on a $50,000 bond.
