Original Story:

A Maumelle roadway was shut down and two people were hospitalized after a person fleeing North Little Rock police on a motorcycle crashed Thursday, police reported.

North Little Rock police reportedly tried to stop a person driving a motorcycle about 3:39 p.m. at Counts Massie Road and Maumelle Boulevard, but the driver fled into Maumelle. The chase ended when the motorcyclist crashed into a vehicle at the intersection of Maumelle Boulevard and Millwood Circle.

Police said the motorcycle driver and the person in the vehicle hit by the motorcycle were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Maumelle police spokesman Capt. Jim Hansard said shortly after 4 p.m. that northbound lanes on Maumelle Boulevard at Millwood Circle had been closed and would remain closed "for some time." He said southbound lanes were open but traffic was moving slowly.

Hansard said motorists should avoid the area, if possible.
