BAXTER COUNTY, Ark. (KATV) — The Baxter County Sheriff's office reports that a 38-year old man died as a result of injuries from a boating accident that happened on Friday.
Authorities received a call around 4:16 p.m. stating that there appeared to be an empty pontoon boat circling near the Cranfield Marina on Lake Norfolk.
Upon arrival, Baxter County Sheriff's Deputy Charles Menschik saw the boat circling in the lake approximately a quarter of a mile southwest of the boat launch area.
The investigation reveals that Jones was at the front of the boat when he fell overboard and was struck by the boat. The woman who was driving the boat also fell overboard while trying to help Jones and attempting to stop the boat.
Other boaters in the same area stopped to help and said that there were a man and woman on shore with the wounded and unresponsive man.
Emergency and Baxter Regional Medical Center personnel arrived to the scene by boat. Jones was taken to the emergency room but did not survive.
No other details were released by authorities.
