Suspects in a drive-by shooting led Pine Bluff police on a high-speed chase before they were arrested Tuesday night, police reported.
Officers were called about 8:20 p.m. to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where Demonta Rouse, 19, was being treated for gunshot wounds to his upper body. Rouse told investigators that he'd been in a confrontation with two men in a white GMC Envoy outside a fast-food restaurant, according to a police report. He was driving in the area of West 26th Avenue and South Elm Street a short time later when the Envoy pulled up behind him and someone inside fired about 20 shots.
The injured Rouse reportedly drove home and had a family member take him to the hospital. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
Officers soon found the Envoy but the driver refused to stop, according to the report. Police reportedly chased the vehicle at speeds faster than 90 mph before an officer deployed a tire-puncturing device known as stop sticks at West 28th Avenue and South Olive Street. The Envoy driver swerved and crashed into a light pole.
Jimmy Henderson, 18, and Deangelo Conner, 20, were treated for minor injuries and arrested. They were both charged with first-degree battery and committing a terroristic act.
Police said a third man, Joseph Reeves, 19, was taken a Little Rock hospital in critical condition.
It was unclear who was driving the vehicle.
Henderson and Connor were being held at the Jefferson County jail.
