A suspected bank robber was arrested Wednesday after leading police on a vehicular chase, North Little Rock police reported.

Department spokeswoman Sgt. Amy Cooper said the holdup happened about 5:45 p.m. at a Simmons Bank branch at 3901 Camp Robinson Road. Authorities were told the suspect, later identified as 48-year-old Leamon Burnom, was wearing face paint when he entered the bank, handed the clerk a pillow case and demanded money.

Cooper said Burnom fled in a Ford F-150 and officers chased him south into Little Rock before he crashed near Interstate 30. At the crash site, detectives recovered the stolen money, a pillow case and black fingernail polish, which Burnom used to paint his face.

He was booked into the Pulaski County jail for robbery and fleeing and will appear in court Thursday morning.
