Officer-involved shooting leaves one dead

One person was fatally wounded in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday in northwest Arkansas, KFSM reports.

The Crawford County sheriff tells KFSM a Mulberry officer was investigating a theft complaint at Sunoco Gas Station on Highway 64. The officer then went to the 100 block of Reynolds St. to make contact with the person of interest.

The sheriff says that's when the person of interest pulled a weapon and didn't comply with the officer's orders.

The officer then fired his weapon at the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect's body was sent to the State Crime Lab.

KFSM reports the officer will be placed on administrative duties.

Neither the name of the victim or the officer has been released.
