Little Rock police say a woman was shot as she was trying to break up a fight near 17th and Elm Tuesday morning.

Police were called out to the scene at 10:35 a.m. for a disturbance with a weapon.

Authorities learned a male suspect had pulled a weapon and fired it into the air when a woman stepped in to break up the fight. That's when police say the suspect turned the gun on her and fired shots.

The woman sustained a gunshot wound to the calf and was taken to the hospital for not life-threatening injuries.

Police say another woman had a gun pointed to her head.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with an average build. He stands between 5'8" and 5'9" and has braided hair.

Authorities say he was last seen running toward Cedar Street with two other persons of interest.
