LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — An Arkansas woman has filed a paternity suit against Hunter Biden, the son of presidential candidate and former vice president Joe Biden.
Lunden Alexis Roberts of Independence County filed the petition for paternity and child support May 28 in Independence County Circuit Court. Public records list a Batesville woman with the same name as 28 years old.
The suit says that Roberts and Biden were in a relationship and that the child, identified as "Baby Doe," was born in August 2018 as a result of that relationship.
Clint Lancaster, an attorney for Roberts, confirmed Thursday that listed defendant is the son of Joe Biden. Lancaster said that Hunter Biden had not been served paperwork but that Roberts' attorneys have been in contact with Biden's attorneys.
Biden, who the suit lists as a resident of Annapolis, Md., has worked as an attorney, lobbyist and a private equity investment partner. Recently, Joe Biden has been criticized for his son's overseas business dealings in Ukraine and China.
During the birth of “Baby Doe,” Biden was believed to be dating his late brother Beau’s widow, Hallie Biden. Following a report in April by Page Six that he and Hallie split, TMZ reported that Hunter Biden and Melissa Cohen held a “secret wedding” on May 16, less than two weeks before the petition was filed.
If Biden is found to be the biological dad, Roberts is seeking child support, health insurance for the 10-month-old, payment for the attorney’s fees and costs and “for all other just and proper relief," the suit says.
Lancaster said that Roberts views this matter as a parenting issue and not a political one. He said that Roberts would like to settle the matter out of court, but the case will take as long as necessary for her to receive child support.
