Pedestrian hit and killed in Pine Bluff, police searching for 2 of 3 vehicles responsible

Authorities say a 58-year-old man is dead after he was hit by three separate vehicles in Pine Bluff Tuesday evening.

Pine Bluff Police said they were called out to the area of 23rd Avenue and Olive Street just before 5:30 p.m. in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Frederick Rice in the northbound lanes of traffic.

Witnesses reported that Rice was struck by three different vehicles during the incident. The first two left the scene, however, the third stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police say no charges are expected against the third driver.

According to the police report, at the time of the collision, it was dark and during a period of heavy rain.

The initial investigation indicates that a white passenger car may have been one of the two that fled the scene.
