The Arkansas State Hospital Police Department released photos and descriptions early Wednesday afternoon of a patient that fled with a psychologist from the state mental hospital in Little Rock on Tuesday.

Psychologist Michelle Messer, of Sherwood, left the hospital with Cory Chapin, 46, according to authorities. Court records show Chapin was arrested in Eureka Springs in September 2014 on charges of attempted kidnapping and drug possession after he told police that God had instructed him to abduct and rape a woman. Police said Chapin was carrying handcuffs and a plastic gun that he'd painted to appear real.

On Tuesday, Messer was seen on surveillance footage going into the state hospital forensic unit and walking Chapin out of the facility, according to the Department of Human Services. Messer was then seen at 8:20 a.m. driving away with Chapin in a blue Mazda3 Grand Touring.

Police have been keeping tabs on Messer's home in Sherwood. According to Sgt. Keith Wilson, officers made contact with other residents inside her home on Tuesday and cleared the house with no sign of Messer. Wilson said the officers on patrol in that area have been making extra rounds around her residence.
