Pine Bluff police have released information about a murder-suicide that occurred over the weekend.

Police said on Sunday at 7:01 p.m. they were dispatched to 1404 Avondale Drive due to a shooting.

Police said once they arrived, they located 28-year-old Takyrra Scott slumped over in the driver's side of a grey passenger vehicle at 1402 Avondale Drive.

Scott had been shot in the head and the hand. She was taken to JRMC, where she died due to her injuries.

Police then found the second victim, 25-year-old Deandre Thomas. Thomas was found lying on the ground with a handgun in his hand with his finger on the trigger with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the police.

Thomas was also taken to JRMC where he later died.

Pine Bluff police said they talked with a witness who informed them she was sitting in her car near the Scott's residence when she saw Thomas run to Scott's vehicle and get in.

The witness said she heard gunshots and then saw Thomas getting out of Scott's car, so she backed up her car as Thomas was running toward her with his gun pointed at her.

The witness said Thomas stopped running three to four houses from the Scott's residence when he shot himself. She also informed police that Scott and Thomas have dated in the past.

Police said anyone with information about the incident should contact the detective tip line at (870) 730-2106 or contact the detective office at (870) 730-2090 and ask for Detective Jason Boykins.
