Suspect in custody, 1 dead and several injured after Little Rock apartment shooting

The Little Rock Police Department says a suspect is in custody after one person was killed and multiple people were shot at a southwest Little Rock apartment Tuesday night.

Authorities say the shooting occurred just after 11 p.m. at an Eagle Hill apartment on Par Drive.

Police said when they arrived on the scene, they found 18-year-old Alexander Reed Little Rock deceased from a gunshot wound inside an apartment. Police believe Reed went to the Eagle Hill apartment to facilitate a meeting with additional individuals, possibly involving narcotics.

Three tenants - identified as 21-year-old Quinn Muller, 18-year-old Rachael Benson, and 19-year-old Stephanie Waters - inside the apartment were also shot but are all in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. Police say a child was also inside the apartment at the time but was not injured.

While police were on the scene, they received a call from the Pine Bluff Police Department about an individual, 21-year-old Alvin Chaffin of Pine Bluff, at a local hospital who was shot in the hand and was possibly linked to the Little Rock homicide.

The three injured victims told police they were at their apartment when Reed came over with an unknown black male, who several minutes later let two other unknown black males into the apartment. The victims said one of the subjects pulled out a handgun and said, "This is a robbery." As one of the women ran toward the back of the apartment, the suspect began shooting. Muller told police he returned fire with his own handgun. Muller, Benson, Waters, and Reed were all shot during the exchange of gunfire.

Officers say Chaffin was identified as one of the three black males who entered the apartment. Chaffin was placed into custody with charges are pending against him.

Authorities are working to identify the additional suspects but do not have any additional information to release at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation. We will update the story as more information becomes available.
