Suspect in custody in Little Rock bank robbery

The robbery occurred at U.S. Bank, located in the 6000 block of Baseline Rd. (KATV)

A North Little Rock man was tracked down and taken into custody in connection with a Little Rock bank robbery Friday morning.

The robbery occurred minutes before 11:30 a.m. at the U.S. Bank, located in the 6000 block of Baseline Rd.

Police were told the suspect, 28-year-old Brandon Marcelis of North Little Rock, was running on foot and was tracked down to a business near Lew Drive.

Authorities located Marcelis hiding behind the business with a pink handgun and black bag filled with money in his possession.

According to bank employees, Marcelis had come in the store nearly 10 minutes before the robbery to have some money counted and then walked back outside.

After he left, employees saw a second suspect, described as a 6'1" black male, enter the bank, look around and nod his head toward Marcelis before leaving.

That's when witnesses say Marcelis came in the bank again, this time displaying the pink handgun and telling an employee to put all the money in black bags.

Police say Marcelis was also identified as a suspect in a robbery that occurred the day before. He was arrested on two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of theft of property.

Police briefly detained a second person matching the description of the second suspect, but he was released after officers learned he was not involved in the robbery.
