Retired Little Rock police officer in stable condition after helicopter crash

    Authorities confirm a retired Little Rock police officer is in stable condition after a department helicopter accident Thursday afternoon.

    Retired officer William "Bill" Denio was seriously injured after the police department said a straight-line wind caused a helicopter undergoing a test run to tip off of the staging area where it was sitting.

    Denio was hired as an LRPD officer in May of 1990 and retired for the department in May of 2010.

    Denio was then hired as a pilot for the Aviation Unit in January of 2012.

    The Little Rock Police department asks you continue to keep Denio and his family in your prayers as he recovers in a local hospital.

    A retired Little Rock police officer was seriously injured when a department helicopter crashed during a test procedure Thursday morning. Police said the the crash happened about 11 a.m. behind the department"s training facility off of Ironton Cut Off Road
