Shannon Hills mayor arrested for burglary, theft, trespassing
SALINE COUNTY, Ark. (KATV) —
The Shannon Hills mayor has been arrested, according to the Saline County Sheriff's Office.
Public information officer Lt. Jeff Silk tells KATV Mayor Mike Kemp was arrested at approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for burglary, theft, and criminal trespassing. Authorities say the arrest came without incident.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division are actively working the case.
The Pulaski County Special School District, where Kemp serves as a board member, issued the following statement regarding the allegations, "The Pulaski County Special School District board members, and our administration, were made aware of the allegations against Mayor Kemp late this afternoon. Needless to say, we are taken aback and are awaiting further information. We are currently unable to reach Mayor Kemp. The Board will monitor the situation and take appropriate steps if and when it is necessary."
