Arkansas shooting victim's family says man connected to killing out of jail
A Stuttgart family contacted KATV with news that a man connected to the November 2017 killing of their loved one is out of jail.
Charles Lindel Ice, 39, was found with multiple gunshot wounds after Ice, according to a witness, was involved in an altercation with another man identified as Morgan McDonald.
McDonald was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and felon in posession of a firearm in connection to the November killing.
Recent court documents obtained by KATV show the first-degree murder charge has changed to second-degree murder, according to the Arkansas County Prosecuting Attorney’s office. McDonald, who had been jailed on $25,000 bond, is now out on bail.
“This guy needs to pay and go to jail while my nephew is in the ground," Ice's uncle, George James, said. "He needs to pay. We respect the McDonald family but if the shoe would have been on the other foot, we would have been just as sad."
James says despite McDonald posting bail, he believes his freedom is a slap in the face for his still-grieving family.
“He got charged with murder," James said. "Did they go get him? No. He is still at home. We want to know why this guy hasn’t been picked up … Why hasn’t justice been served for us? We want justice."
The prosecuting attorney's office declined to comment directly about McDonald’s charges and declined to provide documents from the case file.
McDonald will appear in court next week for a pretrial hearing.
