LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A junior high school student in Greene County, Arkansas was discovered to have brought a handgun to campus with the intention of selling it.
Police first notified the Greene County Tech School District of an investigation involving stolen property on Thursday, Jan. 12.
During the following investigation, a transaction was discovered by authorities, who determined that the previously mentioned student brought the gun to campus on Friday, Jan. 6.
It appears that the gun may have been sold to another student. As revealed in a social media post by Scott Gerrish, Superintendent of Greene County Tech High School, money changed hands in the transaction.
The students involved have been removed from campus with pending police and school investigations.
Police and school officials do not believe the gun was brought to school with the intention of threatening or harming anyone.
The Greene County Tech School District is cooperating with law enforcement in the interest of their students, faculty, and staff's safety.
