Student suffers minor injuries after university plane flips

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (AP) - Henderson State University says an aviation student suffered minor injuries and a flight instructor was taken to the hospital after their university airplane was forced to land upside down at the Arkadelphia airport.

The university says a strong, sudden crosswind blew the small aircraft off the centerline as it was touching down Thursday. The plane then flipped over and landed on its back.

The university says the student was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and the flight instructor was taken to an Arkadelphia hospital for observation. He has since been released.

Henderson says university planes will be grounded until Friday morning, when a meeting will be held with university flight instructors. The pair was flying a Maule MXT-7-180A.
