Students show off cooking skills at Italian Food and Cultural Festival
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The Italian Food and Cultural Festival kicked off this weekend.
Among the tents, KATV found a group that's making a difference in the community.
The culinary instructor for Food Jobs Work said that the group has a special mission: to help underprivileged adults entering the workforce.
They have an eight-week program that trains students and prepares them for jobs in the food industry. On Saturday, students showcased their skills at the festival.
Jeff Caruso, culinary instructor at Food Jobs Work, says this is the first year his students participated in the Italian festival but they're looking forward to attending more festivals to practice their skills.
Proceeds from the festival will go to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arkansas, which serves about 8,000 kids at six clubs.
