A new storm system is headed toward Arkansas and it is already producing severe weather to our west in the Plains.

Unstable air will flow in during the day Wednesday and that will lead to the possibility of strong or severe thunderstorms Wednesday evening into the overnight hours.

The Storm Prediction Center has most of Arkansas in an enhanced risk designation for severe storms.

All modes of severe storms are possible in the state Wednesday night including tornadoes, damaging straight-line winds, hail, and even some minor flooding. Damaging winds will likely be the biggest threat, but we can't rule out any form of severe weather.

The timing of the severe weather looks to favor the evening hours Wednesday. Some storms should linger into the overnight as well.
